Meet a Member: Megan Rowe

AMA CVA member Megan Rowe

AMA Central Virginia Chapter is kicking off our Meet a Member series with Megan Rowe, an AMA member since Fall 2014. In her day job, Megan heads up the University of Virginia Health System's social media accounts, including strategy, daily monitoring and posting. She’s also the editor of Healthy Balance, the health system blog. Both primarily target patients and the overall UVA and central Virginia communities. When we asked her thoughts on Central Virginia AMA, here’s what Megan told us:

How do you engage with AMA?

I've been on the board of our local chapter for almost as long as I've been a member. First, I was on the communications committee, and since July 2017, I've been the membership chair, which means I'm responsible for maintaining and growing membership in our local chapter and making sure we're meeting our members' needs. I also go to almost all of the monthly events.

Why are you an AMA member?

Healthcare marketing and communications can be very different from other industries, and AMA helps me stay on top of overall marketing news and trends. And once I became a member, I sought ways to get the most value out of my membership. For me, that was joining the board and getting to know other local marketers and attending our events. I come away from most of them with ideas for new things I can do the next day.

What about the marketing world makes you passionate?

I love how digital marketing gives us the chance to interact directly with consumers, or in my case, patients, and hear their stories. I also enjoy looking at analytics and using data to measure success and plan future projects. I'm a nerdy introvert at heart.

Where else can we find you online?
